west franklin historical dist. & genealogical society
The West Franklin Historical District & Genealogical Society is a very active group of dedicated individuals who have restored a former school facility into a thriving museum and community center. Along with artifacts, memorabilia and hundreds of photographs, they have preserved much of the community and area history depicting lifestyles as well as the people from the early days of Franklin County to more recent times.
The school building also serves as a community center and is available for weddings, meetings and special events. There are monthly suppers and breakfasts that serve as fund raisers to help keep both the school building and the Silkwood Inn Museum open to the public.
